Foster Care to College mentors work one-on-one with foster youth to help them define their ongoing educational goals. Regular meetings with educational mentors help students identify and fine tune their unique educational plans.
What does a mentor do?
- Provides support to youth to increase their GPA
- Supports current academic skills
- Helps with career-making decisions
- Helps research vocational/educational institutions and accompanies student to visit college campuses
- Attends school enrollment meeting
- Assists in completing financial aid and scholarship applications
- Participates in Foster Care to College program training and resource development
